Welcome to Yes This Book
A Library of Books from Asia
Yes This Book is a thoughtfully curated reading space dedicated to books,
stories, ideas, and literary traditions from across Asia.
From quiet Japanese novels and powerful Korean literature to ancient
philosophy, translated classics, spiritual writings, memoirs, and hidden
gems from lesser-known literary traditions, this site helps readers
discover books that deserve a wider audience.
Why I Created Yes This Book
I have always believed that the right book can change the way we see
ourselves, other people, and the world around us. Some books offer comfort
during difficult seasons. Others introduce us to cultures, values, and
experiences that may be very different from our own.
Over time, I noticed that many reading websites tend to feature the same
popular Western titles. Meanwhile, thousands of meaningful books from
Asia remain overlooked, unavailable in translation, or difficult for new
readers to discover.
I created Yes This Book to make those books easier to find. My goal is not
simply to publish short reviews or endless lists. I want to build a useful
and lasting library where readers can explore Asian literature by country,
theme, genre, philosophy, and reading mood.
What You Will Find Here
Yes This Book covers a wide range of literature and nonfiction from East
Asia, Southeast Asia, South Asia, Central Asia, and other Asian regions.
The site is designed for curious readers, including those who are only
beginning to explore books in translation.

Literary Context

dry academic lesson.
My Approach to Book Recommendations
Every article on Yes This Book is created with readers in mind. I aim to
explain not only what a book is about, but also why it matters, who may
enjoy it, and what kind of reading experience it offers.
I do not believe that every famous book is right for every reader. A slow,
reflective novel may be deeply moving to one person and frustrating to
another. That is why my recommendations consider tone, pace, themes,
emotional intensity, accessibility, and cultural context.
Where possible, I distinguish between personal impressions, commonly
accepted literary information, and factual details about authors,
translations, publication history, and cultural background.
A Personal Reading Journey
My interest in books from Asia is also personal. I am especially drawn to
writing that explores inner life, family relationships, resilience,
belonging, quiet transformation, and the search for meaning.
I have often found that Asian literature approaches these subjects with a
distinctive sense of emotional restraint. Rather than explaining
everything directly, many books leave room for silence, ambiguity, and
reflection.
That kind of writing stays with me. It has encouraged me to read more
slowly, pay closer attention to ordinary moments, and appreciate books
that do not rely on dramatic plots to say something profound.
More Than a Book Review Blog
Yes This Book is being developed as a long-term reference library rather
than a website that depends only on frequent publishing.
Older articles will remain useful because readers can return to them when
searching for a particular author, country, tradition, theme, or kind of
book. Over time, the site will grow into an organised collection of
reading paths that connect related books and ideas.
You may begin with Japanese books about mindfulness, move to Korean novels
about family, and then discover ancient Chinese philosophy or modern
Vietnamese fiction. The aim is to make that journey natural and enjoyable.
Editorial Values
-
Respect for cultures: Books are discussed within their
cultural and historical context rather than reduced to stereotypes. -
Honest recommendations: Articles are written to help
readers make informed choices, not to praise every book automatically. -
Original content: Commentary, reading guides, and
recommendations are independently written. -
Clear disclosure: Any future affiliate relationship or
sponsored content will be identified transparently. -
Reader-first publishing: The goal is to answer real
questions and help people find books they are likely to value.
Who This Site Is For
Yes This Book is for readers who want to move beyond familiar bestseller
lists and discover literature with a different cultural perspective.
You may feel at home here if you enjoy translated fiction, reflective
books, Asian philosophy, historical narratives, quiet novels, personal
growth, spiritual traditions, or stories that reveal how people live and
think in other parts of the world.
You do not need any previous knowledge of Asian literature. The guides are
written to be accessible to beginners while still offering meaningful
context to experienced readers.
Begin Your Reading Journey
Books allow us to travel across languages, histories, and lives without
leaving our reading chair. They can challenge assumptions, preserve
forgotten voices, and show us that unfamiliar cultures often contain very
familiar human emotions.
I hope Yes This Book becomes a place where you discover stories you would
not have found elsewhere—and occasionally finish an article thinking,
“Yes, this is the book I want to read next.”
Start by exploring the latest reading guides, browsing books by country,
or choosing a theme that speaks to you today.
